Level 58 : Grandmaster Fox

I haven't uploaded anything for a while now, so here's one to upload.
cheers. :^P

I haven't really uploaded anything along the line of a "town" just yet, so I thought I'd make one, although still in my opinion this build is lacking quite a bit of things, but my due to my desire of building other things I kind of kept it cut to what I have so far instead.
Again, I suppose this build is more along the line of renaissance-ish style, built over the course of 6 days with tons of procrastination as usual.  I'm doing stuff over at my buildteam called Aminoque, trying to bring some stuff up for that team aswell. Anyways... yeah :^P there.

The build requires a texturepack provided in the file. please use them upon observing the content.
You may not upload any of my builds onto any other websites using ADFLY links to monetize my hard work for your convenience.

Nice work, maybe not your greatest work but whatever. I'd like to see more warm colors especially on the houses. That would make the place feel happier and more classy. As it is now the color scheme just reminds me of one of those foggy and stinking towns from Pirates of the Carribean. And unfortunately your background story and the clean look don't really support this.

End of rant, have a diamond anyways mate.

I SEE SOMETHING GOOD.
Very nice build! I love it! Also, that music fits perfectly! It actually reminds me of music I actually heard before... If only I could remember it...

It's called Imagination by Capo Reproductions.
And the other piece of music I was thinking of is Time from the movie Inception.

Sorry but I don't understand this gets so much diamonds, I dont want to hate but in my eyes most of this looks kind of blend and lacks detail. Even these renders cant make it look pretty, I wonder how it looks in-game. Maybe if you would use more than 4 different blocks for a building it could make a big difference. I like the trees though.

When you say detail I assume you are referring to mainstream slabs, stairs, fences, etc. You don't have to like it, but the beauty of keno's work is that he makes realism look great in minecraft. He's got so many diamonds because a build like this is not easy to complete. Keno goes away from mainstream to make his stuff and that's what makes it great in my opinion.

No thats not really what I meant, not at all. Lots of people consider slabs and stuff as detail but there are so much more ways to detail your builds they dont know about. I actually hate it when a build is filled with stairs and slabs (like almost every pop-reel project on pmc). Normally people dont spend time on little details like I said in my other comment, too bad because it would make town like this lots more fun to look at. Kenofox didnt do a bad job on this but it could have been a million times better.

What sort of details do you have in mind when you call it a detail? :^P

There are tons of ways to detail. Your strees for example, now they look really ''clean''. You could just add in some moss blocks, cauldrons filled with water, some stacks of hay. There are endless possibilities. I see you have made a little ship, with nothing in it! How could you do that =P It should have stuff on it or you could put trade goods in the docks so it actually looks like they are loading/unloading. Make some market stalls or so,  You really missed out on a lot of things. Thats just for the detail part. I think your structures also could have been better. I see you use a pillar and then fill a gap of 3 blocks and then just leave it like that. ( Some builds are more complex though) The ones that arent that complex should get an upgrade, add some stairs or make the 2nd storey stick out 1 block.

I guess that might be so.Putting aside the building "complexity", I'll talk about that in a bit <-  :---     The road being clean in my opinion doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. It means that people takes care of it around the area, unless if the area is damp and moist and barely anybody there to take care of the issue, Perhaps that'd be a nice thing I could have added, which I won't lie I do think there might've been few places around the tunnels. The build itself did not have a large enough of a dock for cranes to carry things however, so I kept it pretty simple with small crates here and there, along with a more larger warehouse containing more room to store more goods, most of them being food and whatnot, which is loaded on a boat to carry back time to time  from a slightly distant location from them. If I were to basically add in the narrative I can quickly make that make sense by saying; To the east of them another town stretches, where some of the goods from Blugough is transported to using boats as the roads are a bit too small for a cargo cart to pass. As for the market stalls, Around the townsquare area, those buildings are actually either cafe, tavern or inn, those things each carrying the cargo by manual labour with strong men carrying them back and forth. From my experience, the distance they'd have to move however really isn't much if we go by minecraft logic of one block=a meter. Which totally is doable if I were to convert physical endurance of  a man moving such distance, otherwise probably depends on it's crate content. again, probably food and whatnot. The area to the west belongs to the fishermen, that's what those tiny boats are for. Some of them carry some fishes using those boats.            <- there's my narrative excuse.     :-- Onwards to the buildings. Buildings sticking out is called a jetties, commonly seen in a timber framing houses seen in medieval buildings. Those are really not necessary to be added, Infact it's highly dependant on which theme you're going for. Medieval in this case doesn't fit in the category. As for the walls being blank, I don't believe having things around the wall always "add" to the buildings, if anything I question why things are there, Unless if I can think of a use of it, I tend not to add anything on them.

I got your point and im glad you dont get angry when someone has criticism (kind of rare nowadays on pmc). You got some fair points but it doesnt change my opinion, I think you got to find the right balance between realism and something pleasant to look at. You could consider this as realistic but just some minor changes would still keep it realistic and nicer to look at. Also, the dock is rather big, and it would be realistic if it had more goods on it considering the size of the town. Saying that there is a town further east doesnt take away the fact that you can just keep a boat empty, its really use to fill the boat. Maybe you could have made some boats sailing out of the docks to that town with the goods on it and the ones that are in the docks could be empty, thats the balance I was talking about. Dont fill every boat, or not even one at all, just some of them. I agree on the structure thing (didnt knew they were called jetties). At first I was basing my opinion on that like it was something medieval but after reading your comment I realised this wasn't really medieval. (Maybe its because Im used to only look/build medieval stuff ;-) The rest of your comment seems legit. Matter of opinion I guess.
Would like to see your next town!
