Welcome to Border Run!
Border Run is a parkour map where you can time yourself, or not.

This map has features like:
- Achievements
- Timer (Time you have to complete a parkour map.)
- Soundtracks (11 Minecraft In-Game soundtracks that loop.)
- 12 Parkour maps in the normal mode and 3 In the Border Run mode.
More maps for the Border Run mode are coming soon.
- Various settings for you to mess around with. (Parkour with PvP, Weather Cycles etc.)
- Blocks that modify the way you play. (Ex. Light Blue Concrete gives you speed boost.)
- A troubleshooter just in-case the map breaks unexpectedly.
- A Game-Mode where the Border chases you, don't get caught!
- Particles to customize the way you want to look.

Border Run 2.2.0 Patch Notes : by Denis_MTS 04/12/2024 4:02:49 pmApr 12th

I refuse to believe that Border Run hasn't gotten an update for 2 years... anyway, buckle up this updates huge.

Bug Fixes:

  • Normal Mode:
  • Fixed one achievement not being unlock-able.
  • Fixed performance issues with Particles in the Maps & Selection. (The
particles room area had too many particles in one place and it could lag
out your game and potentially crash on low-end PC’s)
  • Fixed a bug where Achievement get text would disappear too quickly.
  • Fixed a minor bug with The Illusion map.
  • Fixed text seen through walls in certain areas.
  • Fixed a bug where old code didn’t work thus making some features of the map not work. I was unaware of this issue and it should be fixed now (you could fix it by using the troubleshoot button)
  • Fixed achievements not displaying correctly.
  • Cleaned up unnecessary code.
  • Fixed a bug with one Easter egg, you will be able to disable it’s particles in the particles room.
  • Fixed a bug where you could not start any map under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug with the Time of Day setting.
  • Fixed a bug where you could randomly spawn in the void when you were playing for the very first time. If this ever happens, reinstall the map entirely. (By that i mean, delete the world and add the latest one back to your saves folder)
  • Fixed a out of bounds bug in Rocky Top map.
  • Fixed an annoying bug in the The Hallway map and removed the RNG parkour at the end.
  • Fixed and Re-made the Information Book, it was bugged previously making it unreadable, it is now readable again.
  • Fixed a bug where some text weren’t displayed due to Mojang changing the way tellraw works. (Not all texts in-game were impacted by this issue.)
  • Fixed a bug where wins didn’t count properly and would always reset to 1 or reset entirely.
  • Fixed a bug where jumping while winning would add more wins… insane.
  • Fixed a bug where all features of the map could break under certain
circumstances. (The bug was hard to recreate but it could happen even if you weren’t trying.)
  • Fixed a bug where Weather Cycle setting was not working correctly.
  • Fixed a common 5 year old bug, where pressing buttons more than twice would give various results. I don’t know what took me so long, the fix was easy to make… but nonetheless its fixed now!
  • Fixed a bug where when you would press the start button in the lobby, the outside sfx would end even if the map wasn't selected.
  • Fixed a bug with the timer where it stopped on a random value and would remain frozen.

  • Border Run mode:
  • Fixed a bug where you could WIN while spectating in Border Run mode. Now that’s just unfair. (Only way you can win is to be in Adventure mode, all other game-modes will not work. It is not a bug but a feature.)
  • Fixed a bug where the wins text was turned on during Border Run mode maps.
  • Fixed a bug where if you would win in The Forest or Tutorial map, The City map would be glitched and you would lose halfway through the map. However, losing on this map fixes that issue. But either way, this bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed some inconsistencies with the countdown text.
  • Adjusted the way you teleport to the map.
  • Added fade between maps.
  • Fixed a bug where you could get soft-locked in The City map under certain circumstances.

  • Quality of Life changes:
  • Updated to 1.20.4
  • Optimized texture pack. The map is now 38mb (it was 82mb in 2.1)
  • Reworked the Finish line code.
  • Reworked The Illusion visual effects, It will work 100% of the time.
  • Added fade effect when teleporting to maps & switching through options.
  • Removed some sound effects.
  • Updated the DEBUG commands. (Don’t use them unless you know what you’re doing.)
  • Reworked the title texts on every map.
  • Added a welcome text. (it will show up once per update.)
  • Re-adjusted teleportation to maps rotation. (you wont be looking at the wall once you teleport to a map.)
  • Split the “Snow” settings into two, Fake Snow during the Presents map and Fake Snow during all other maps.

Removed Feature/s:
  • Skins
I feel like some of you might be disappointed by this but I’ve decided to remove the skins feature mainly because i wasn’t adding any and there was no real use for it. Yeah you look cool jumping and stuff but… what else? But who knows, if and when i feel like it i might return this feature, for now it’s disabled.
  • Songs
Same case with skins, i feel like the songs aren’t really needed in this type of map, plus adding custom songs is pretty complicated for an average player. And there were few songs to choose from which could annoy you pretty quick & the custom songs had 5 song limit which i could increase but it would be a nightmare to implement.

New Features/Reworks:

  • Reworked Lobby. It’s finally original! (and not as cool looking.)

This was the most tiring thing in this update. It took me so long, I’m still not 100% satisfied so things might change again (nothing major). There are also visual effects in the lobby. If you think they’re too much you can decrease them in the settings room or just straight up disable them.

  • Achievements:

Previously, there was one “secret” achievement where you would get it if you owned all particles (50 wins) but now I’ve added more! There’s also a special place where you can view how many there are and to give you a clue how you can get them, Good luck :)

Currently the achievements serve no major purpose but is there for the people that like to 100% stuff. Might add some stuff in later updates.

  • First Time Playing message:

This feature is for notices i will give every update so you can stay up to date on whats going on if you're not following my social media.

  • Map Previews:

This feature gives you a preview of the map you’ve chosen to play (before it starts.) Just to give you an idea of what you’re about to play!

The Border Run mode is excluded.

  • Reworked Settings (Kind of):

Last update i reworked the settings area to make it more easier to navigate, this time i reworked it again (didn’t change the look of it) but adjusted the way you get to those settings because it was a bit disorienting. There are also hanging signs to help you navigate this area.

  • Grassy Town Visual Rework:

Grassy town is one of the first ever maps made for Border Run (first is Rocky Top). It was visually lacking and it felt very empty, while the changes i made aren’t necessarily impacting the Parkour/Gameplay aspect of this map, visually its a bit different, you’ll notice the changes right away.

  • Map Selection Rework:

While this feature wasn’t lacking anything i still decided to rework it, while some might think it was unnecessary i personally wouldn’t like the lobby filled with buttons and stuff, so i made specific area just for “Game Types” and info related buttons are in the lobby, who knows, i might add more stuff and I’ll have to expand it and i don’t want to rework the lobby again. You must stand on the AMETHYST BLOCKS to go to the Map Selection.

  • Troubleshoot Rework:

Troubleshoot feature is now more accurate and more reliable, fixed critical bug with this feature where you could run the troubleshoot feature and do as you please which could potentially cause bugs.

  • Soundtracks Rework:

I know, I know you’ve got a lot of questions, didn’t you just say that you removed songs from this map? well, kind of. This soundtrack feature is using soundtracks from the actual game (not custom added) I added this just in-case if it’ll be too quiet while you parkour, of course you can turn this off in the Settings area if you don’t like it. And you cannot choose which soundtrack it’ll play, it will play in it’s designated order. I also implemented this feature into the Border Run mode. Let me know if any issues arise.

NOTE:
If you want to turn down the volume of these tracks use the Jukebox/Note Blocks slider in the game settings menu. If you want to lower other Border Run Soundtracks/SFX use the Ambient slider.

  • The Timer Rework:

I don’t know honestly if I’ve remade this feature this update or any other but what i do know is that the Timer feature now has a better way of displaying the time you’ve got left until you’ll lose.

  • Border Run Mode Rework:

Yes your eyes aren't fooling you. The Border Run mode got reworked code-wise as well as one of the maps. Fixed critical issues and very poorly coded stuff. One thing you might notice is that the maps don't start right away once they're pressed. They now work similarly like the Normal Mode maps. Select the map you want to play (from this mode) head back to the lobby and press the start button. Once this update is released I'm probably going to work on more maps for this mode specifically because there are only three.Another thing is, the tutorial map has been renamed to "Dripped Cave" and instead the Grassy Forest will be the tutorial map.
