It felt good putting that progress percentage to 100!

  • A "lived in" world full of unique tools/weapons, custom named items, detailed books and personality

Update #5 : 11/30/2016 1:51:28 pm11/30/16

The time has finally arrived!

On
November 30th, 2016, Broville v11 will be available for download! No,
not a demo, not a small section, the entire finished map.

In the
past four and a half years over sixty people have contributed to what I
consider the Definitive Minecraft City. I'm very excited to finally be
able to share with you all the vision I've had in my imagination all
this time.

Thank you all for your support over the years and get ready to explore!

Update #4 : 11/10/2016 2:40:26 pm11/10/16

Hello, again!

Well
underway into 2016, as you may have guessed, we are still in progress
of finishing Broville v11. Yes we are finishing it, yes it will be
released, no it's not vaporware and no we haven't given up.

I'm
quite excited about where we are at with the map, I would dare to say
even close to being finished. To tide you over, we have four demos
available through the download link.

I want to thank you all for
keeping up with us over the years, and can't wait to share our creation
with you. Please feel free to leave any questions and comments below.
I've said it before, but the entire project has been a true labour of
love, and I believe that is reflected in what we have created.

Long Live Broville!!!

November update : 11/06/2015 2:50:10 am11/06/15

Added a new message and added all new screenshots/renders.

Thanks everyone!

Original Message:

As we
near 2016, at over three years since the start of this project, work
still continues on Broville v11. We truly appreciate everyone who has
stuck with us and thank you to all our new followers. This is a complete
labour of love.

As
we come into the final stretch of the map, we are working on creating
several hidden "end game" complexes, finishing interiors (always),
detailing of roads/infrastructure and landscaping, and occasionally
updating/renovating old (2+ years) buildings.

In the meantime we have plans for more demo maps and open server days. Stay tuned and long build Broville!

Old Update News Pre October 31st, 2014 : 10/31/2014 7:46:36 pm10/31/14

December 26th, 2013: Thank you everyone for your continued support and interest in our not so little building project!

Download the totally cool and exclusive Broville v11 demo and see why it’s taking us so long to finish the map! Since we are taking our sweet time to deliver the ultimate Minecraft city experience, we figured we would show some Christmas spirit and release a nice big chunk of the city to tide everyone over.

You might notice we’ve spent an ungodly amount of time preparing, building, furnishing and detailing this map. If you haven’t noticed, you might want to look harder. Each room is detailed personally and uniquely so you never see exactly the same thing twice. Besides the meticulously detailed environments, we’ve created a bunch of custom tools/weapons with enchantments and flavor text, loads of custom named blocks/items, and custom skinned player-heads to really give life to the city.

We truly feel we are creating the Minecraft city, not just your every day medieval village or lifeless skyscraper map. The whole Broville team truly hopes that our meager offering is enough to satisfy everyone until the full map is ready to be released. Everything is created with care and with focused intention, and we think you will notice this during your travels through the city streets.

I absolutely love Broville, with it's detail. I can explore only part of the map, when I load up Brovillle after saving it gives me a error message saying it's missing a file. I load it up it works fine yet when I reach a certain part of the map it crashes. Im not sure what it is. If you have just the file of Broville, not zipped with the texture pack that would be great, all the past versions work fine, but I want the fully updated version to use on 1.12.2. Should I use it on 1.10 or does it work on 1.12.2?

I would imagine that's an error with 1.12 not jiving with something. I know it's getting pretty old at this point but 1.10.3 will work best since that's what we released on.

Okay, thanks so much for responding!
I've been going through this world since the earlier stuff (Like the resort map as its own little bit), and since the week you guys released it, and I only have one real question, even knowing it took years to make.

Like man, its just insane how much is here, the crazy good layout of the whole map, the intro mini version of the island, all of it. Too great man, too goddamn great.

Meme magic!!!

But realistically it was a combination of the skills of all the builders and my overall management/vision for the project that allowed it to come together the way it did. I think my experience with other city building games also helped, in particular with designing the roads in such a way to make things interesting. Also combining terrain features into the core design of the city. So many maps are just flat and BORING.

Ok, first of all let me say... This is 1000 times better than any minecraft city. This ranges from mountains and farmlands, with cottages and nice farm houses to a magnificent city, with towering buildings and all kind of structures. I thought that was all though... I was wrong. I did some exploring and found so many other structures, like the giant desert looking tent, to the last build which was the huge island tower, and even an ice castle. There's so many dungeons, easter eggs, and things to find. I keep having to use the isometric map to get around. There's just so many things, and not one bad thing (and that's an understatement). I'm having to write down the coordinates for all the things I find, so I won't lose their location XD. What I'm saying is that this is the best minecraft map I've ever seen in my opinion and you deserve so much more for all the work you've put in. I hope you get back in to minecraft, because that would be amazing for everyone, and we would love it. Thanks for all the effort and hard work you've put in to provide this to the community! :D

P.S. If you had a list of the coordinates for most of the structures or knew someone that has them... could I see the list, or could you put it out to everyone. It would make wandering around so much easier. It's totally fine if you don't, I would understand.

Thanks again - AeonianLegend

Here is a Google spreadsheet of all the coordinates we had while making the map. They aren't very user friendly, but there are over 1040 different locations created.

Thanks buddy! Happy to hear you are enjoying the map.

I don't really have an official list of coords. I do however have our entire internal warp list database file, which contains the coords for all the warps we used during making the map. I will convert it from the database file into something more useful and post it here.

It's possible, but we didn't put a lot of effort into item balance so some are god-like. I'm not sure if there is any one definitive "strongest" weapon.

I've currently re-stored almost over half of the Solar Corp Plant down into the heart of it. I've basically just updated the inside of it. I put all the signs back up to is respective names, Ceilings and roof's are put back together, I've kept all the Sector colours the same; I've very big on restoring abandoned buildings and updating them to todays terms. But i've kept alot of originality to the building. Wherever there was redstone (if i could figure it out) has been re-wired and lights are running; All other glow-stones have been put into place that has no redstone wiring. Solar Campus is being revamped; Its looking alot like a new Generation of Solar is soon to take place

Ok thanks. I tried it with other maps already and everything except for the command blocks works. Even without the command blocks it is still a cool map to explore.

the tiny cave underground that has a sign in it that reads "Obama is a nigr"
Personally, I love the whole city haha. Definitely a highlight would be the airport and how realistic it looks. I also really enjoy the secret things below Broville and some of the things that you really have to look for to find. I found an underground city that used to be Broville? That was mysterious all right, although I don't really know what it means or how it relates to v10 haha. Great job on the whole map guys!
Well I don't know, I love the whole map actually. I really like Solar and the Hadron Collider cause it's cool. But the most beautiful buildings in my opionion are the main museum and the cathedral, there are some awesome buildings in Breno too.

Close enough, lol! I'm glad you think they're nice.

Yes, we definitely modeled SOLAR after a familiar science facility ;). We had a lot of fun making the spawn island modeled after the main continent. We made it last so it was fun to reflect on the whole thing.

Feel free to share anything else you stumble across that you like. I know I personally spent a lot of time hiding things in every corner.
Oh! And great idea with spawning area :) I mean that spawn is scaled whole map

Solar is my fave. I loved how it was used in Vertaok City too, which was made by someone who helped make this map. I played Vertaok first, then found this, so I was like super happy to see Solar here because it made the whole Solar experience better seeing how in Vertoak it was like crossing over from here!

I love the Airport, Brocorp, the prison, the everything...
I've been going on a scavenger hunt to find every object related to Solar Corp, truthfully I've found a great deal of stuff. Really interesting.

I wish I could explore it with fresh eyes myself!

I just don't have the time to dedicate to updating the wiki. We did a call out for help with it on Tumblr a while back but no one really bit. It also doesn't help that Moneybob, who originally created the wiki, can no longer access the email he set up the account with.

Some one basically has to go through the re-claiming process to get anything meaningful done to it.

Thank you for your kind words!
No problem, and I would love to help with the wiki. The issue is that I don't know the lore of the city and if I wrote something it would probably be inncorrect.
Just read your previous comments, saw that you don't play minecraft any more. It's a shame, but I understand. Thank you for all the love you've put into this project.

I'm afraid I don't have that information on hand, but we made it so ocean surrounds the entire map area. If you keep running into ocean, or you see new land generate, you'll know you've gone too far.
Is it okay if I use the map in my minecraft roleplay series on YouTube? I would change the name of the city to Mine City and change the city just a bit. I would leave the download link in the description.
