I have managed to locate plans, sections, elevations, and detail drawings of Byōdō-in, also known as Phoenix Hall! Strangely enough, these drawing were in imperial units, so I suppose these were intended for the replica in Hawaii. However; this Minecraft model is based on the original Byōdō-in temple located in Uji, Japan. Byōdō-in was constructed during the Heian Period and represents Shinden Zukuri architecture. This period of Japanese history and its architecture has captured my fascination, I would even say it is my favorite historical architectural style. It might be the brilliant vermilion color and the craftsmanship of the carpentry that draws me. I hope to visit it in person some day. But that might be a day I'll have to wait indefinitely for. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this reconstruction!
I was also thinking of making a Heian-style Palace, but that is just a thought.
