Cake/Bed Bridge Concept

You have to cross lava to avoid being blown up by creepers. On one side there is a row of beds with a double layer of cake on top. It looks like the only way out. What do you do?

You walk across of course!
I have discovered that if you put down beds and then stack a double layer of cake on top you can walk across the side of it. All you have to do is jump up onto the side of the beds, lean slightly towards the cakes and walk forwards!

I don't think creepers etc are smart enough to cross with this design so it is quite practical.
