Carpiquet. A small village in Normandy, France. This map recreates what it looked like back in 1942. Why 1942? Well because that was before it became the site of a violent, deadly battle in 1944. This is admittedly but a small part of a larger project overall titled Operation Windsor, named for the military operation of the same name that took place in 1944. But for now, enjoy this faithful, painstakingly created recreation of Carpiquet village as it was in 1942. Can you find the signs of occupation?
