“The King is dead!” cried the royal physician.

The morbid proclamation echoed off the cobbled stone walls of the castle, amplified by the stagnant anticipation. It passed crowds of King Ezekiel's courtiers, troops of royal guards, and groups of hurried servants, until it came to a lavish dining hall.  Whispers broke out among the royals that gathered there, except at the very end, where Prince Patrick and Prince Derek were sharing a roasted ferret.

After an eternity of silence, the two brothers rose simultaneously and drew their swords.

There can only be one King.

Introduction

Welcome to CastleRise: Brothers’ Feud! This a team-based tower defense PVP minigame centered around being the last team with a living prince. It is divided into two stages.

When the game begins each team will be teleported to its respective side, and each player will receive an set amount of money and a Defender Shop book. Here, players can purchase structures (which are explained in greater detail later) with which they build a castle around their prince in order to defend him. After the set time has passed, the barriers separating the teams will fall, and stage two will begin.

When stage two begins, castle building is over and all shop items cleared from the player’s inventories. Players will now be given a basic set of armor, sword, bow and arrows, and spawners will activate, and factories will begin producing more elite gear. Now, the siege begins, and the first team to kill the other team’s prince is the winner. Players will continue to respawn until the game ends.

Tutorial Area

There is now a tutorial area in game, so don't feel obliged to read the following few sections.

Creating Your Castle

When you begin the building stage, you will receive a  set of hammers (if you have the texture pack) with the names of the pieces. To construct it, right click the hammer onto a specific block as specified below. This ensures that the castle fits together nicely. Placing a castle piece on the ground will expand the turf on which your team can place blocks.

Structures
Structures are the basic building blocks of your castle. They themselves have no defensive function, but protect those that do. Most castle pieces can be placed on structures. They can be placed on emerald blocks and stained clay.

Walls are the most basic structure piece you can purchase. They are a solid five block cube, with enemies being able to tunnel through the middle.

Ladder Platforms are flat platforms with a ladder coming up the center, allowing defenders to climb from one level to the next.

Platforms resemble walls, but defenders can easily pass through the center. These can be used to provide a flat surface for higher levels.

Ramparts are cheap capstones to a wall that provide defenders cover while preventing attackers from jumping over a one high wall.

Defenses
Defenses are the defender’s best tool for keeping back attackers. They employ the use of mercenary mobs that target only the enemy team. They can be placed on emerald blocks and stained clay.

undefined

Monster Spawners regularly spawn mercenary monsters to fight for your team. These include skeleton, zombie, and creeper spawners, and the type is indicated by the head on the corners. These can be upgraded to increase the toughness and attack power of the monsters. The monsters spawned will die after a period of time to maintain a maximum count per spawner of three.

Factories
Factories are buildings that regularly produce more elite items for both attack and defense. Factories can be placed on emerald blocks and stained clay.

Potion Factories produce potions for PVP, and at higher levels, sneakery. Upgrading these unlock more powerful and tactical potions.

Armories produce more tanky armor, sometimes with special enchantments, and if you get lucky, very powerful boots with depth strider and feather falling. Upgrading these increases the tier of the armor and enchantments.

Fletchers produce arrows. Upgrading these increases the amount of arrows produced.

Weaponsmiths produce swords and bows stronger than the iron sword and basic bow provided upon spawn. These may be just be of greater strengths, or have specialty enchantments such as knockback/punch or fire aspect/flame. Upgrading these increases the strength and enchant tier of the weapons produced.

Siege Factories produce items mainly for attack, including pickaxes, ladders, patchwork, grenades, and enderpearls. These are explained in greater detail later. Upgrading these increases the quantity of items and unlocks the stronger items (grenades and enderpearls).

Moats
Moats are holes filled with water that not only slow down enemies but also hinder enemy tunneling. These can be placed on emerald blocks.

Moats are the basic aquatic defenses.

Guardian Spawners are moats that act much like the other monster spawners. These can be upgraded to make the guardians spawned tougher and at diamond tier, invisible.

Miscellanious
Bridges allow defenders to move around their castle with greater ease. These can be placed on coal blocks and will face in the direction the coal block faces if there is an open space.

Turf Expansions can be placed on emerald blocks and simulate placing a castle piece, but create no structure, allowing you to expand turf without committing space.

Special Items/Features

The Escape item can be right-clicked during Stage 1 (the castle building stage) to return to spawn in the case of being trapped.

Patchwork is a building block obtained in the Siege Factory. It can be broken by both the starter pickaxe provided upon respawning and also the pickaxes obtained in the Siege Factory and placed nearly anywhere. This makes patchwork a temporary clog to holes in walls, and means of bridging into the enemy fort.

Grenades are weapons obtainable through a gold tier Siege Factory or better. They can be thrown to deal massive explosion damage to all entities in the area.

Pickaxes obtained in the Siege Factory allow players to break more types of blocks than pickaxe provided upon respawn, including all cobblestone blocks and lighter battlefield blocks. They, however, have greatly limited durability, and must be used carefully.

The Upgrade item is right-clicked near a defense/factory to upgrade the building in exchange for kills.  Upgrading from iron to gold tier takes 2 kills, and upgrading from gold to diamond tier takes 5 kills.

Players can execute a super jump by crouch walking, then jumping shortly afterwards. This allows players to jump five blocks up, and thus single walls. Fall damage will be just as powerful, so use caution.

Want to Play?

  • CastleRise is designed for Minecraft 1.8.8.  Other versions may work, but have not been tested.
  • The resource pack is greatly encouraged for visual experienced. It can be found Here.
  • At least 2 players are required to play, but any more will work.
  • CastleRise is a relatively CPU intensive, so a powerful computer, realm, or server is needed for a playable experience.
  • CastleRise is meant to be entirely self-maintaining, so any usage of cheating may result in out of the ordinary behavior.
  • If you play on a realm or server, the following settings are required:
    • Command blocks enabled
    • PVP on
    • All spawns off (except on realms, in which animal spawns must be on).
    • Difficulty at least Easy
    • Adventure mode
    • Spawn protection off

Make a Video about it?

If you record a video about it, feel free to link it in the comments and I may reference it as a trailer type thing.

Find a bug/Have a suggestion?

Feedback of any sort is always appreciated, so long as it is constructive and reasonable.  If you find a bug, please report it in the comments, along with a picture or some other evidence.  Also, if you create an awesome castle, post a picture!

This is because the timer is ingame, and so if your game slows, as does the clock.

i made this planet minecraft account to do this one suggestion: (and i did it because i like this map =) )

maybe put the command blocks somewhere else than under the place where you play the map
because some people (like me) gets alot of "connection lag" because of it =/

(so my suggestion is that you move the command blocks to somewhere else to stop the lag, and yes i know it would take some time to move all the command blocks =b)

How do I get new items from factories? Also, the spawners except for the blaze spawners don't spawn mobs. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug?
