Have something to say?
I just played your map, and here are the things I think about it.
Warning! This contains spoilers, play the map first before reading it.
- The design was good, the house and furnitures were done nicely, the cave was small, giving you claustrophobic vibes, which is a good way to increase the intensity and fear in the player.
- The story was simple, but ok, for a horror map you don't need to add much to it, the less the player knows the less they understand, and that means there's more they can fear.
- The jumpscares were alright, altough they were easy to expect. If I remeber correctly then there were 3 of them. The 2nd and 3rd weren't really scary, they took too long to happen, but the first one actually got me by surprise, so overall it was good.
- I like the additions, the black screen that blocks the vision in the cave was really cool, the background noises were the best in the map, and I liked that you put some effort into making a texture for the torch.
- The only mistake I found unfortunately was a big one, which is the length. The map is only 9 minutes long with the rule reading and all, which was very disappointing, especially because it was going very good. The ending just came too fast, I would've liked it to be at least 10 minutes longer, build more tension and plot, because this way it basically ended at the point where I was like oh ok this is getting interesting. You know like a book with a cliffhanger at the end, it really ruins the mood in this scenario.
Overall this map was very good, I'm impressed with the ambient sounds, the design was good, and it was actually scary while it lasted. I just wish you made it longer, like a 20 minute long map would've been alright. I hope you'll continue working on it, or maybe a continuation, then it'll be great.
I give it 7/10, if you make it longer and add a little more to it than it can easily become a 8 or 9.
Would recommend the map for others to play!
Have a good day!
