Return to Dark Souls... but this time in Minecraft!
Dark Souls is definetely a good game. It's very difficult, but not unfair, it has an incredibly interesting lore and is extremely fun to play. That's why I decided to remake it's core mechanics in Minecraft. I have been working on this for quite some time and I have already made a lot, but there is much more still left to do, so any help would be appreciated.
I'm going to replicate Dark Souls in completely vanilla minecraft. This means mechanics, weapons, enemies, and even some areas and bosses. I think it is possible and I'm going to prove this by doing it. Of course I'm not going to replicate every game completely, rather just a few bosses and areas. We have only built a small part of the map, so if you want to see a particular Boss or place please tell me in the comments.
Features (finished):
- Bonfires you can rest at to set your spawnpoint, replenish health and Estus Flasks, Level Up or Reverse Hollowing
- Estus Flasks: Right-Click them to drink them and replenish your health
- Levelling system: Spend Souls obtained by killing enemies to upgrade one of five attributes: Vitality (affects maximum health), Endurance (affects maximum stamina), Strength (determines which Strength weapons you can use), Dexterity (determines which Dexterity weapons you can use), Faith (determines which spells you can use). Each stat can be upgraded from 1 to 30, but the maximum level is 120.
- Hollow/Human form: When you are in human form you get +30% maximum health.
-Stamina: You lose Stamina when running, rolling and hitting with weapons. Your current Stamina is shown on the XP bar.
- Rolling: Click spacebar to roll forward. When rolling you can't be hit for a brief moment.
- Custom weapons: They deal different damage, have different attack speed, take a different ammount of stamina, for example the Fume Ultra Greatsword deals 50 damage, but it takes over a half of your basic stamina with each hit! Also, you need to wait nearly 2 seconds between each attack!
- Custom models: So far we have done the models for the Bonfire, Undead Legion Armor, Fume Ultra Greatsword, Deacon of the Deep, Smough Hammer, Greatsword of Artorias, Farron Greatsword (I'm using Cubik Studio)
- Custom font: Some of the rarely used letters in the font have been replaced with Dark Souls symbols
- Custom sounds: Sounds from the original game that play when fighting, drinking Estus, resting at the Bonfire etc.
- Custom music module: A system that allows custom music to play, loop and stop at any moment. It will be used for example during the boss-fights
- Completely custom Bosses (Abyss Watchers and Deacons of the Deep so far) with animations and special moves
- Completely functioning Hollow enemies
Features (To be done):
- More enemies with custom movesets and animations
- More weapons and armor
- More boss-fights from the series

I have really bad news for everyone waiting for this project. I accidentally opened the save on an old version of minecraft and the save got corrupted. To make it even worse the last backup I have is from March, which is even before the new bonfire model was made...
But don't worry, we will not give up! We will try to do it again. However, it will take at least a month to get to where we were just yesterday, so the map will be delayed.
I wanted to show you new things, such as the functioning Deacons, new enemy health system or the weapon upgrade system (the Blacksmith), but right now we are at the point before the previous update...
So remember, the project is not discontinued. It will just be a while until we will be able to show anything new...
