This is part of my story map about the Ancient Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. This donjon belongs to Eldorman.
The donjon were built of wood or stone, had three floors, but in most cases there were very cramped rooms that were not intended for housing. The residential building was erected at a distance, and the main tower had a symbolic and military purpose. In addition, the donjon often housed various important rooms of the castle — armories, the main well, food warehouses.
