Dragons' Canyon

Overview

Dragons Canyon is a growing underground settlement of refugees and outcasts that live in harmony with their landowner; the dragons. Isolated in the middle of the wilderness, the people of Dragons Canyon sustain themselves by hunting. As products derived from dragons began to gain popularity, Dragons Canyon has begun trading delicate dragon poop coffee and dragon egg shells. Dragon egg shell has a variety of uses, but is most well known for ointments treating burns and as a ingredient in cosmetic products.

This is the project in which I gain sniper status in thevoxelbox when plusnine saw the concept art and encourage me to make it happens. Project lead by me and contributed by many many players, it was so fun to build this together. Even people who never built a dragon decides to give a try on making one in dragons' canyon. History

Founding

Mountain Erhen possesses magical properties that attract dragons, mostly young ones. Eventually, the dragons that decide to stay there shape the mountain to their liking. After humans have witnessed generations of dragons come and go to the mountain, the name Mountain Erhen has been forgotten and renamed to Dragons Canyon.

Arrival of Humans

For the time being, Dragons Canyon remained undisturbed while kingdoms emerged and collapsed in faraway lands. One day, a band of rangers decided to camp on a forest near the canyon to escape a king's bounty. The forest happened to be resourceful and the rangers quickly drew their bow for a hunt. A young ranger spotted a deer, and when his arrow struck into the deer's heart, a dragon simultaneously pounced on it with its talons. Both the ranger and the dragon were surprised at each others presence. Seeing the fear and hunger in the ranger's eyes, the dragon, which is named Alakhir the Wind Reaper, decided to leave the dead deer for the ranger. From there, this story spread fast amongst the rangers, that the dragons might not be as dangerous as they imagined. For some months the rangers stayed in the forest without conflicts with the dragons, and both races respected each others territory and hunted without a single word passed between them.


However, one day the rangers spotted the king's army nearby, which was getting closer and closer each day to their camp. In desperation the rangers demolished their camp and ran towards the canyon. Unfortunately, they were too late, the king's army saw them and charged in. Sensing hostile intentions, the dragons which were dormant flew down and threatened the king's army, which retreated.


Since that day, the rangers build their houses on Dragons Canyon and rumors about a village protected by dragons spread to those outcasts who seek refuge from oppression. It should be noted that the dragons are merciless toward those who have evil intentions.

The Dragons

Alakhir the Wind Reaper

Alakhir the Wind Reaper is a young wind dragon from Daekar Tain (the continent which dragons come from). He was commanding Divine Dragons' Patrol on the border of Burning Valley. Alakhir's distinctive features are the feathers on his chin, wings, and tails. His scale colors used to be light blue. Not to be mistaken with Sapphira. Alakhir has a little sister named Mistral the Pearl Feather. 

Boazaroth the Blind Mountain

Boazaroth the Blind Mountain is a blind young earth dragon from Daekar Tain (the continent which dragons come from). He was born blind. Boazaroth is evaded by most dragons after he broke the neck of one of his bullies with ease. However, Boazaroth is actually quite a gentle dragon. Boazaroth's only friends are Malthezar and Skit. Due to the nature of earth dragons, his sleeping habit, and the amount of rocks he ate, Boazaroth's scales are almost indistinguishable from rocks. 

Malthezar the NightAngel

Malthezar the NightAngel is a black dragon from Daekar Tain (the continent which dragons come from). He is a talented young spellcaster, specializing in casting blue lightning. He is also a natural leader, although he prefers to stay around his weird friends, Boazaroth and Skit. He doesn't like Alakhir because they are from different factions and also because Malthezar still holds on to the ancient traditions of the chaos dragons. 

Kemuri and Suchimu

Kemuri and Suchimu (Smoke and Steam, respectively) are twin dragon hatchlings that were born on the dragon canyon. Kemuri was the first to emerge from his shell, and immediately tried to shoot fire at the sun, but he instead coughed up a bit of smoke, thoroughly humbled, his name was given to reflect his immaturity and fiery attitude. Suchimu was, simply, named after her brother. Kemuri and Suchimu were made by MichaelAlexander 

Matriach

Matriach is a red dragon who is mother of Kamuri and Suchimu, as well as a few other eggs. She is very strong and willingly guards other dragons eggs-- making Dragons Canyon a safer place for dragons to put their eggs when they go hunting. Matriach also doesn't mind when humans wander around to take empty eggshells. 

Tenli

Tenli is a lava serpent that, being a lava serpent, spends his time on his favourite lava pond. Naughty and mischievous, Tenli is 'kind enough' to invite others--dragons and humans-- to join him in his lava pond. To this date, Tenli has caused a lot of burnt injury casualties and zero death casualty. 

Icarus

Icarus is a sea serpent that inhabit the salt lake right in the east of the mountain. Being a fan of loch ness, Icarus likes to show up to visitors, only to disappear into the water at the next second. Being water elemental in nature, Icarus dislike Tenli and they often seen exchanging pointless debates. Icarus likes to eat fishes, but he doesn't like sushi. Icarus is made by Spulet 

Gidarius

Gidarius is a land dragon that guard the entrance to dragons canyon. While he volunteer to do the job, he also excel at it because his howl resonates to every edge of dragons canyon. Beside being a living alarm, Gidarius also likes to sing hip hop songs he made by himself. Gidarius is made by SpecterCody 

Charon

Charon is the largest red dragon to take roost in Dragon's Canyon. He is mate to Matriarch and spends most of his time either chillin' on the mountain top, guarding the opening, or taking long flights along the beach. His glasses he found one day on Pangea; they are thought to be GOD's discarded Aviators. His wings are 80 blocks from shoulder to tip and he can fly at speeds of up to 300 mph. Charon is made by Mexxy 

Isrene

Isrene is a large winged sea serpent. She is the guard of the sea entrance to Dragons Canyon. Her most prominent features are her extremely large spanning wings. Unlike you might expect these wing although capable of flying are mainly used to glide along the sea surface, with great elegance and grace. She is rarely seen being hidden under the ocean surface, but arises now and again to state her pressence flashing her stunning wings. She rarely mingles with the other dragons, but does strangely take a liking to Tenli. Isrene is made by Borissssss. 

Apollo

Apollo is a hyperactive young blue dragon. He is very agile and able to dive from the sky at very high speed and glide over before crash to the ground. Many dragons believe this is an important perk both for hunting and mating. Because this, Apollo tends to show off his skill, especially toward any humans that pass-by, which end up scarring them. Apollo doesn't mind though, as the fellow dragons still likes him. Apollo is made by Spulet 

Cancelled Plan

• Expand dockyard market with smaller shops.

Note of Schematic

The location is super big, so I recommend to paste using MCedit. The whole thing is made in special pangea texturepack, viewing it on normal texture pack might make the whole place looks strange. I am too lazy to change these.
