Here is a cathedral I built as part of an upcoming RPG project.
Placed an effigy of an ice angel inside. I feel that I nailed-it with the wings for the small/medium size and scale of it.

The statue is an excellent start! One of the things that I've learned from doing sculptures is that it's not always advisable to add a face, because faces take a lot of room. Usually it's more prudent to preserve the body's proportions and see if a face can be added later.
Overall the architecture looks very sound, there's some subtle variation on the roof (which is cool), and it's BIG!
To give your build a little depth, try receding windows into the walls instead of having them flush with the wall. Also, don't be afraid to use blocks on the outside to "highlight" certain features that you think are important!

From your comment, I'm now tempted to add an extra layer to the outside for depth.
Sculpture wise, this was the first I've ever done. Made a skeleton then went straight to the wings. The face took three attempts to get it there. Originally it was going to be a stone crown and sword, but that didn't work.
I checked out your builds too, so expect to see me subscribed to yourself shortly :)
I'm really no good at making sculptures in-game, I have to do it in MCEdit to get anything right lol.
