I am going to show you how to make a easy up and down elevator.

First make a 2x2 platform with a piston underneath the right far block.

Then place a sticky piston and then a piston on the face of it. Keep doing this pattern as high as you want to go.

At the top make place a sticky piston on the left so you dont forget to move out of the elevator when you go up.

Now you have to build your walls.

Place a button on the left close side of the wall.

Then place torches and blocks in the pattern in the picture.

Place the redstone where the redstone in the picture is.

Now do the same thing on the other side. On the top place a torch, repeater on 4 ticks, and a block to activate the block pusher.

Now go underneath the button and place the redstone to the sticky piston and then place a repeater to the torches.

Then go and place the wire to the other tower. The repeater is on the first tick regular repeater.

Destroy the last redstone on the right side from the front if you dont want to go up an extra block.

Place a wall of glass or blocks so you dont get pushed out and there you have it, a fast elevator. Keep going if you want the down feature.

Go to the back and place blocks where i had placed them.

Then placed blocks more and place redstone on the blocks where it meets behind the piston.

Go to the front and place a button.

Now go and place blocks behind the blocks with redstone on it and place redstone and repeaters. Repeaters are on 2 ticks.

Now on the top hook the wire to the button and there you have it - a working ultra compact up and down fast piston elevator. This elevator will work SSP and SMP but on SMP you have to have an O.K. ping and server that has a little bit of lag.
