El arca de Noé fue una enorme construcción hecha, como su nombre lo indica, por Noé bajo las órdenes de Jehová/Yahvé Dios. Su objetivo, era resguardar en su interior una pareja de cada especie animal junto con personas de un próximo diluvio. Jehová/Yahvé le mandó a Noé que, mientras construía el arca, le predicara a la gente que vendría un diluvio para que se salvaran, pero, como nadie le creyó y se burlaron de él, toda la gente de aquel tiempo murió en el diluvio mientras Noé y su familia se salvaron.

Uno pudiera pensar que es muy pequeña para resguardar a todas las especies existentes, la obra Perspicacia para comprender las Escrituras dice: "Algunos investigadores han calculado que con únicamente 43 'géneros' de mamíferos, 73 de aves y 10 de reptiles podría haberse originado la enorme variedad de especie conocidas en la actualidad".

A diferencia de lo se piensa y cómo es ilustrada, "el arca [...] era rectangular, parecida a un cofre, con las esquinas cuadradas y el fondo plano. No necesitaba un fondo redondeado ni una proa en punta para cortar las aguas [...]; tan solo era preciso que fuese hermética y flotase. Una embarcación con esta forma resulta muy estable, y no es fácil hacerla zozobrar".


English:
Noah’s ark was a huge construction made, as the name implies, by Noah under the orders of Jehovah God. Its objective was to protect inside a couple of each animal species along with people from an upcoming flood. Jehovah commanded Noah, while building the ark, to preach to the people that a flood would come to save them, but, since no one believed him and made fun of him, all the people of that time died in the flood while Noah and his family were saved.

One might think that it is too small to hold all the existing species, the work Insight on the Scriptures says: “Some investigators have said that just 43 “kinds” of mammals, 74 “kinds” of birds, and 10 “kinds” of reptiles could have produced the great variety of species of these creatures that are known today”.

Contrary to what is thought and how it is illustrated, “the ark […] was a rectangular chestlike vessel presumably having square corners and a flat bottom. It needed no rounded bottom or sharp bow to cut rapidly through the water [...] it’s only functions were to be watertight and to stay afloat. A vessel so shaped is very stable, cannot be easily capsized”.
