Up/down, expandable, crazy-compact, car-elevator, compatible with any version of Minecraft! I sped the footage a little so it won't be boring. I'm working on floor selection with a few different designs in mind, so if you have any suggestion please post them in the comment section below.

Building your Own

Explanations
This machine works by sending a pulse up or down from the floor you are on. The pulse goes through a decoder every block that sends it directly through the first block and indirectly through the block twice above it. The little ding-dong at the end is very simple it just cuts off the pulse at the end. (there are two sets of regular and stick pistons above and below the elevator. For closer inspection just download it for yourself!

I'm making a newer version with floor selection! It will be using some hoppers for down buses, some comparators for logical whatnot, and more AWESOMENESS! Don't forget to leave any thoughts you've had in the comment section below.

1.2.6 is only the elevator version number. If you look in the older version you will see that you can download version 1.1, there was also a 1.2 and a 1.2.5 but they didn't change the elevator itself instead they added more capabilities.

not really 'any version compatible' , I played it on 13w03a and the elevator jammed.

Maybe it's because of lag. Though I have a very good computer I tried it again with a few mods (including GLSL, and Optifine Ultra), a 128x tp, best graphics and far render distance, I also wiggled my screen around a lot and it still worked. Did you play it on a laptop? Did you have best graphics on? Did you have any program running in the background? If so, try it again with worst graphics, no programs in the background, and stay perfectly still in the elevator. If it still doesn't work then or you have a very bad computer/laptop, or Notch has meddled with your minecraft. :(

pistons are really buggy in snapshots, so if it still doesn't work in 1.5 I'll fix it.
