Yōtei is the lead vessel in the Yōtei-class big cruisers , fictionally active in WW2 with the Imperial Japanese Navy.
These were the largest and the most modern cruisrs in the Japanese fleet , and were intended to encounter any cruiser they can face and create a long range strike force for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her sister ships were Senjō and Daisen


The Yōtei-class were approved under 1929 to 1934 Fu-Ka fictional fleet program , and like her ships , was named after a mountain. The Mount Yōtei ((羊蹄山 Yōtei-zan) is an active stratovolcano located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park , Hokkaido , Japan. It is also called Yezo Fuji or Ezo Fuji (蝦夷富士), "Ezo" being an old name for the island of Hokkaido, because it resembles Mount Fuji.


Designed as a large heavy cruiser (big cruiser) of Imperial Japanese Navy , they were mainly based off (very identical) to Takao class heavy cruisers , an improved-bigger Takao class. They had some unique aspects like three funnels connected together , two floatplane hangar , large 11 inch (283mm) guns in triple turrets , and a main battery placement similiar to battleships. Armed to the teeth with a great armor scheme combined with a very fast speed they were superior to many ships by their size.


Yōtei-class displaced around 20.000 tons . Yōtei was 231 meters long , with a beam of 25 meters , draft of 7 meters , and were capable of 32.4 knots.




Propulsion was by 12 Kampon boilers driving four sets of single-impulse geared steam turbine engines , with four shafts turning three-bladed (the ship i did actually has four-bladed) propellers. The ship was armored with 183mm side belt , and 35-60 mm armored deck ; the bridge was armored with 10 to 16 mm armored plates.

Yōtei's main battery was twelve 28.3 cm naval guns , heaviest armement of any ship in the world at the time , mounted in four triple turrets. Her secondary included twelve Type 96 12.7 cm dual purpose guns in six twin mounts on each side, and 16 Type 90 (later Type 93) torpedoes in four quadruple launchers. She was deficient in anti-aircraft capabilty as built , but later got more efficient with 45 Type 96 25mm (1 in) anti aircraft guns.

Yōteix was repeatedly modernized and upgraded throughout her career in order to counter the growing threat of air strikes, and in her final configuration was armed with twelve 28.3 cm naval guns (4x3), six Type 89 12.7 cm (5 in) dual purpose guns(5x2), and 16 Type 93 Long Lance torpedoes in four quadruple launchers (plus 8 reloads). Anti-aircraft protection included 10 triple mount and 15 single mount Type 96 25mm (1 in) anti aircrafts guns.
