Hello everyone! I've had a little bit of free time with the holidays and have felt a draw to come back and build a little for a while now so I'm very excited to show off the first build in my "Dream Home" series.

Welcome to the Flügel House. Flügel is the German word for wing which I chose due to the shape of the home's roof line, which follows the contour of both the interior space and the environment. This cliff side, 1800 sqft house is 2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath, with a 2 car garage, pool, fire pit, interior garden, and guest house. The guest house is a 700 sqft 1 bedroom 1 1/2 bathroom bungalow with ocean views and a shared private staircase to the beach.

I was very excited working on this and really wanted to build a home that worked with the landscape and felt like it was apart of the nature around it. Using that idea I thought up the entry-way with a long open ceiling that split the private and public spaces of the home. As you reach the end of the entry hall the master bedroom sits on the left, and the living, dining, and kitchen sit to the right. The house also includes an interior garden which is something I've been enamored by for a long time and plan on doing in my own home at some point. Along with this I decided not to use any glass, I like to think in the real world all the glass could be pushed into the walls and hidden so on a nice day you could feel and smell the outdoors all throughout the house. Glass in minecraft is also just really bulky and with a house this size would close off the space more than I would have liked. I used trapdoors to create these "sliding" sidings that can be slid around the exterior of the house for privacy regardless of whether the windows were slid away or not. I decided to start small with this series, I wanted to make something that still felt homey while fitting the idea of a "dream" home and I feel very happy with this building.

There is plenty of inspiration that went in to this and I'm sure the obvious ones are noticeable. Olsen & Kundig, Mason & Wales, Michael Sant, Condon Scott, Johnston Architects, and Studio Ilk are the most notable.

This house was built on the fantastic Fonir map created by Wernaert using a modified ERT texture pack.

Thank you all for taking a look at this and I hope to be back soon with something new :)
