How about you spawn on a cramped little floating house with very limited supplies (3 wheat etc..) There could only be one tree and a tiny little mine with iron, coal and very few diamonds (of course there will be cobble :P).

But instead of getting cobblestone you must make a cobblestone generator with the buckets you aquire and nearby islands were you will get the water and lava
