I found this seed back at 1.8 but it still works with 1.0.0. Only change was: There was an ocean but now there is a desert near the spawn and island. When you spawn, turn around to the left and there are 2 cacti and you should see the island.
Coordinates: x= -87.8
z= 111.6

Do you know if you spawn relatively close to the island with 1.2.4? Or on it?

I think it doesn't work anymore with versions 1.1+

Yeah, what I did was downgraded to 1.8, used MCEdit to put my spawn and char up there and then started building a home. Got a nice two story house, tree farm on bottom, chickens in pens. Small wheat farm in the back, storage room.

What I want to know is what mine has the mineshaft? Is it near the island or FAR away?

Yeah. If not, thats totally fine, I'll travel if I have to. I just want to know if you remember where the mineshaft is with Melon seeds?

Oh. I didn't find any mineshaft near the spawn. I had to go somewhere else.
