Edit: Holy heck! 3k views and 100+ diamonds in the first 3 days? I love you guys! And am more motivated to finish the interior than ever!

This is my first project ever in Minecraft; a fully scaled and detailed Starship Enterprise.

A few months ago I came across the MineTrek server and the famous Enterprise D from halkun. I got Minecraft that very day and decided to work on my own project. The Enterprise A (Constitution Refit) has always been my favorite ship of the franchise, as to me it struck the perfect balance of sex appeal and functionality.

Everything on this build has been created from scratch, even if some other programs like MCEdit were used.

The project started with taking a set of deck plans and scaling them in photoshop. I had to upscale the ship larger than the real dimensions to make everything fit - the ship is 470m from bow to stern. This allows for proper spacing between the 21 decks.

Once each deck was scaled, I traced over it using GraphicsGale, a paint program designed for pixelart, converting each deck into a schematic to be imported into MCedit. I did the first few decks of the saucer, and realized that I had to do the exterior of the hull first if I wanted it to line up, as there were quite a few inaccuracies in the deck plans.

I designed all the contours for the ship using Graphicsgale, and redid the deck plans to make sure they would fit. It was a pretty time-consuming process, but the decks fit better with some minimal changes. Each deck is built next to the ship then imported in.

The surface markings and aztec details are as close to movie and model accurate as I can make them. On the StarshipModeler forums, the community there has made an exhaustive study of the different details that were present on the ship in the movies, and made a series of decals for the various sized model kits. I ended up grabbing those, scaling them down and cleaning them up, and adding them. I could add more detail, but I wanted to make sure there were clean lines and distinct color boundaries, because at that level it just ends up looking like noise.

Currently, all the decks in the saucer are done and fully fleshed out. The bare floors have been added through the rest of the ship so the windows all line up where they're supposed to.
