As you have probably have guessed, this is based off of the vipers from BSG. I have to admit. My imagination is a pile of crud.
Anyway, all of the trapdoors represent thrusters or intakes (except for the cockpit hatch. The thrusters facing to the sides on the nose allow for crazy erratic manuvers such as 360 spins and the vulture can fly backwards. It is highly manuverable coupled with high speeds from the three engines on it. The power source currently is classified.

2. Mostly agree with Iyecte here, although I disagree with the TV shows/universes for inspiration. While reading more is always a good thing, you should feel free to take inspiration from things that show everything visually. Heck, the whole reason I started the Indomitable was because I was inspired by the SHIELD Helicarrier from "The Avengers."
3. This is for his #4, but EPIC MUSIC is very helpful with both giving inspiration and rekindling motivation when you get working.
Nice to see you making your own stuff! Keep it up!
2: after reading the first line of the desc ima give you a few tips (this is what i did after i realised mine got totally screwed over, i couldn't see pictures in my head for a while)
1: don't look at too much TV shows/universes where everything is shown visually/audially to you, otherwise your brain will only run along those tracks
2: read a LOT of books/media where your brain has to fill in the story
3: give me a minute to think of some more
4: epic music
me and airships have like a goddamn library
