Hi everyone!

Today I bring you something very exciting, the Gearing-class destroyer of the USN. This is the first Tier X warship from WoWs I've ever built and one of my new favourite builds. It was a challenging build, due to the flush-decked design and the large superstructure, but it was also a lot of fun and I'm very happy with how it's turned out. I used the World of Warships model to build it and camouflage it. The camouflage is historically accurate, although it was quickly changed to the typical blue-banded camouflage better known as Measure 22.

The stats are as follows:

Length = 119 Blocks (not including extremities)
Beam = 13 Blocks (ditto)
Draught = 4 Blocks

Primary Armament: 6 x 127mm/38 Mark XXXVIII DP Guns [3 x 2]
Anti-Aircraft Armament: Ditto plus 8 x 40mm/56.3 Bofors QF Mark II Guns [2 x 4], 4 x 40mm/56.3 Bofors QF Mark I Guns [2 x 2], 11 x 20mm/70 Oerlikon Mark IV Guns [11 x 1]

Do note that Wargaming has given the Gearing a twelfth Oerlikon position for some reason. I have removed this as this was not accurate.

Torpedo Armament: 10 x 533mm Mark XV Torpedoes [2 x 5]. It's possible that some Gearing-class ships could've been equipped with the newer Mark XVII torpedo as shown in WoWs. However, only 450 of these torpedoes were produced and none saw combat. They were removed from service in 1950 so I remain doubtful.

There is one remaining US destroyer that I have built and will be ready to show you in a couple of weeks time (or less), which is the Forrest Sherman-class. After that, I'm moving back to the Swedish destroyers to finish those (and they're coming along nicely). The US destroyer leaders such as Porter, Somers, and Mitcher will be coming in a separate line of builds at another time.

Anyway, I hope you guys like the build!

See you soon,

MCMG
