Nobody asked me for it but here it is, my GO Transit fleet. I've been sharing pics of the builds over the last few weeks and I now have a small fleet of commuter trains to share with you all.
GO Transit operates in Southern Ontario, Canada. If you've ever been to Torontos Union Station then you've seen these distinct green and white trains. GO serves almost seven million people spread across an 11,000 square kilometer area. GOs first commuter train line began operation in 1967 along a single line and today operates seven lines with 81 locomotives, 694 coaches, and 514 buses.
I have recreated a portion of the GO fleet:
The EMD FP7A is a 1,500hp diesel locomotive built by the Electro-Motive Division company from 1949 - 1953. The engine was based on EMDs F7A engine but was 4 feet longer to accommodate a larger water tank for the engines steam generator. The steam generator was used to heat the passenger cars. GO sold off all their FP7s in the 1980s.
The EMD F59PH is a four axle 3,000hp diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD with two major variants built between 1988 and 2001. GO Transit was one of the main buyers for this locomotive, purchasing 49 of the 73 locomotives built initially. GO has since retired all but 8 of these locos, most being replaced by MPI MPXpress locomotives. The remaining eight have been rebuilt and remain in service today.
The MPI MP40PH-3C is a four axle 4,000hp diesel-electric locomotive built by MotivePower. GO was the launch customer for this specific version of MPXpress locomotives. GO requested engines capable of 4,000hp with the ability to pull 12 coaches and reach a speed of 150km/h. MPI won the bid and GO purchased 27 locos in 2006.
The MPI MP54AC is a four axle 5,400hp diesel-electric locomotive built by MotivePower. It is technically the most powerful passenger diesel engine in North America. GO was also the launch customer for this engine with the first unit being a converted MP40PH-3C. The MP54AC competes with EMDs F125 and Siemens Charger though the Charger remains the most popular passenger engine on the market. GO is in the processing of acquiring 26 of these locomotives, some rebuilds of the older MP40PHs and others brand new units.
Bombardier BiLevel coaches comprise the entire GO railcar fleet. The GO fleet has several different versions of the Bombardier BiLevel coaches but I have chosen to just do three distinct variations. The three variants I have made here are GOs classic livery of just green and white. The second is GOs new livery, featuring two greens and the classic white stripe. The final variant is a cab car with the new livery. The cab car is a newer design from Bombardier to make a higher safety standard.

These bring up many great memories of visiting Toronto as a kid, always using the GO train or bus to get there :)
