Hello Everyone

It's been a long time since i've uploaded something new, but i herewith present you my latest project.

After reading many of Tolkiens literature this hidden city has always been one of my favourites, and i therefore decided to try my best at building it.

Keep in mind though that it is in fact not a exact model of the city described in the books since i did not pay attention to executing every detail correctly but rather just built it based on how i imagined it in my mind. Some of the mian differences include the following:
  • The 2 Big Trees Glingal und Belthil are yet to be done
  • The valley in which the city is standing is a plain instead of a lake according to the books.
  • no secret Tunnel
It has been built in default texture pack, but i'm guessing every other texture pack with nice quartz-blocks will work just as fine.

Please note that the terraforming is not the best, since it's nothing i usually do, but it's needed to add more atmosphere of the city.

You may use this project as you like, just be sure to give appropriate credits for it and never claim it as your own.

Lore
In the fiftieth year of the First Age, Turgon journeyed from his halls in Nevrast with his cousin Finrod. Ulmo guided him to the hidden valley of Tumladen, and there he founded Gondolin the great Hidden City. The city was completed circa 126, and Turgon's people traveled there secretly.

concealed from Morgoth by the Encircling Mountains, and guarded from trespassers by the Eagles of Thorondor Gondolins elves lived a peaceful life and culture and knowledge bloomed.

Morgoth's servants finally discovered Gondolin through treachery, and it was sacked and destroyed in 510, with only a small number of its people escaping.

One by one the great lords of Gondolin fell, and Turgon, disillusioned and broken-hearted, ordered all to follow out through a secret escape tunnel when he saw that the destruction was inevitable. Only his guards stayed around him, and all who remained were killed as the great white tower collapsed.

Hello, my IGN is Mark_Antony, I am a veteran player on a server called Civcraft:

https://forum.civcraft.co/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Civcraft/

In our server's past we have had a nation of "Gondolin" inspired by the works Tolkien, and at the present time we are looking for ideas for a server special event to last a few days or so.... In my admiration for Tolkien lore and Gondolin specifically, I ran across your works here and I suggested it to the server's admin/dev team. In turn, they wanted me to reach out to you to verify that it is okay to use your map for some event as long as we give you credit (credit to _Swisscraft_, and Tiresh) as well as a mention to this project in particular.

I hope that you'll be okay with this, and I'll anxiously await your response. Regardless, thank you for your wonderful work and contribution to the community as a whole.

-Mark

P.S. I'll check this posting for a reply, but if you would like to get a hole of me, contacting me via reddit might work better: www.reddit.com/user/Antonius_Marcus/

Thanks!

Just want to ask thine blessing for use on a Roleplay server I'm trying to get started. It needs plenty of adventures to go out and do a thing, and this looks like a great place to do a thing in.

I noticed
jannekloeffler talking and recomending world painter, but really. for
builds like these, world painter and world machine is really hard to
control around setting areas to build and stuff. So if I had the choice,
voxel sniper is better for stuff like this, over hangs and stuff is
harder to do than it is with voxel. Voxel is easier to control for this
stuff, *hint why builders like voxel over WP* ;) and another thing is
that I acctually like your terrain. Keep up the great work! :)

I've sadly never really terraformed much, only some really basic stuff as a base for my builds, since you seem to be a master in this field i'd be happy to follow any tips you might have!
i think you used world edit or voxel sniper for the terrain. it is realy hard to make a good looking terrain with this tools. i would recomend world painter if you just want a basic terrain that looks nice and worldmachine if  you want an extremly detailed and realistic terrain ( worldmachine is a bit complicated at the beginning ) if you want some more details feel free to add me in skype ( skype name : jannekloeffler )

Not to kill the awesomeness of the build, but Gondolin was surrounded by a plain, not a lake.
