A Ilha Fiscal é uma pequena ilha localizada na Baía de Guanabara, no Rio de Janeiro, conhecida pelo seu palácio neogótico,
construído entre 1881 e 1889 durante o reinado de Dom Pedro II. O edifício foi inicialmente usado como posto alfandegário da Marinha.
O local entrou para a história principalmente por sediar o famoso Baile da Ilha Fiscal, realizado em 9 de novembro de 1889, apenas seis dias
antes da Proclamação da República. O evento foi oferecido pela Marinha Imperial em homenagem aos oficiais chilenos do navio
Almirante Cochrane. Com cerca de 5 mil convidados, o baile foi marcado por luxo, requinte e ostentação, simbolizando o esplendor e,
ao mesmo tempo, o crepúsculo do Império Brasileiro.
Por isso, o baile ficou conhecido como “o último baile do Império”, representando o fim de uma era na história do Brasil.

Almirante Cochrane. With approximately 5,000 guests, the ball was marked by luxury, refinement, and ostentation, symbolizing
the splendor and, at the same time, the twilight of the Brazilian Empire.
Therefore, the ball became known as "the last ball of the Empire," representing the end of an era in Brazilian history.
