Welcome to Roma Antiquae 320 A.D.


This project has been ongoing on/off since 2012. We've worked hard and go to great lengths in order to achieve a satisfying build, not only visually but historically accurate as well. We wish to captivate ourselves and the players in the amazing charm and essence of immortality that is the city of Rome.
The build is based off historical accounts, archaeological academia and visual references. The scale is 1 block = 1 meter. Mapsize is 10 x 10 km in total. We use Ovos Rustic ressourcepack for the world.

Quite simple really! I placed a hopper and a random block above, which I used worldedit to set as datavalue 51 (fire). There may also be some world setting required but I can't quite remember which.

I can easily say that my mind is 100% BLOWN at the sheer scale of the project that you guys have undertaken, you are in essence recreating the major cities of the Roman Empire at their prime down to almost 1:1 detail and the fact that this has only been going on since 2012 off and on and you are ~80% done is just insane to me. I would love to even be on the server to see it "in person" and if you made this a dedicated server with RP I would volunteer to be a shopkeeper in a second (you want fishes? I got fishes!).

Amazing work fellows. I am a Social Studies teacher and would love to use your map for some lessons of mine. I got our entire school district accounts with Minecraft Education and I am trying to show how it can be used in the classroom. This is one of he best Roman themed build I've ever seen, this really takes back you to those times, so colorful and vibrant yet elegant looking, the interiors looks quite good. I can't tell how big this project is is and that only means is really big.

Only thing you forgot is the hills that rome was built on. But with such a huge project, and not abandoning it half way through like I would, thats just details.

Don't know what you mean. We built all the hills using a topographical image of the terrain and then converting it into a minecraft generated map.

No, it isn't very good and flexible enough for a project like this - it is quite suitable for single, small buildings, but doesn't work for multiple styles of buildings quite as well.
