A 1:8 scale build of an Imperial I class star destroyer, a model of star destroyer used by the Galactic Empire, introduced shortly after its formation in 19 BBY to succeed the older Venator class of the previous Republic era. The Imperial I class is prominently shown in A New Hope and Rogue One, with Darth Vader's Devastator being a famous member of the class. By the time of The Empire Strikes Back, most star destroyers shown are of the Imperial II model, although the older Imperial I can still be spotted in some scenes within the film.
This project took a very long time to complete, and the build went through many alterations before the final result, but after nearly 5 months, I'm super happy on how it turned out. I've always wanted to build a star destroyer in Minecraft, especially an Imperial I, since not many builds were Imperial I ship but Imperial II ships. However, for a long time, I wasn't good at building, and the size of the project put me off for a long time. After building a few ships, I decided one day that I wanted to build something different, and after a few months, I had what wanted to build for so long.
The build is around 200 blocks long, as it's built in 1:8 scale. Imperial I star destroyers were armed with a main battery of 12 heavy turbolasers in 6 dual turrets, 3 per side, along with two large ion cannon turrets, one on each side. Two quad laser cannon turrets are also mounted on each side, along with numerous smaller turbolaser batteries. The build is based on the models used in A New Hope and Rogue One, where numerous close-up shots are available. I also looked at various models and replicas to get a better idea of what the detailing should look like. Overall, it was a lot of effort to get this build going, but once I had gathered enough information, it was a matter of placing the blocks.
On a slight departure from my other builds, I will no longer be posting making my schematics public after discovering that people were posting my builds without crediting me. Unfortunately, it had come to this, and I apologize to those who appreciated and had a fun time with the maps and build schematics. You can still use my screenshots however, just credit me using my PMC name.
Hope you enjoy the slightly different build this time!
If you wish to use any of my screenshots, please give credit to the original creator, that would be very appreciated. I spend a lot of time building these ships, and I still want people to be able to appreciate them.
