Hi everyone,
I'm back with another Dutch cruiser build for you. This time, it's the Java-class cruiser! I'm proud of this one, it took a lot of work and I put a lot of detail into it. Plus, I had to deviate noticeably from the base model to make the version I wanted, which was also challenging. Two of these ships were built IRL, the Java and the Sumatra, with a third sister, the Celebes, that was to be ever-so-slightly larger cancelled (not the same as the horrible Celebes thing in WoWs, btw).
I've chosen to represent Java as she appeared during her fateful last deployment in the Battle of the Java Sea, where she was sunk by the Japanese. This meant several changes were needed from her WoWs model, most notably in the form of additional anti-aircraft, a new bridge structure, AA platform and aircraft that aren't present on her in-game. Plus, of course, the camouflage that she wore when she was sunk. For this, I used some historical photographs and real-life models of the ship to help. Hopefully, you guys think the results are worth it.
Anyway, enough rambling, these are her statistics:
Length - 155 Blocks (not including extremities)
Beam - 17 Blocks (the planes make it noticeably wider)
Draught - 6 Blocks
Primary Armament: 10 x 149.1mm/50 Bofors Mark VI Guns [10 x 1] (only 7 can fire in a broadside due to the arrangement)
Anti-Aircraft Armament: 8 x 40mm/56 Bofors No. 3 Guns [4 x 2], 6 x 12.7mm/90 M2 Browning Heavy Machine Guns [6 x 1]
Note that while she does possess two aircraft, she cannot launch them from a catapult as she doesn't have one. Instead, the cranes lift the planes onto the water and they take off from there.
Now, the follow-up to the Java-class would be De Ruyter, but I've already built that. Have a look through my back catalogue if you haven't already seen it. So, the next Dutch cruiser will be the Eendracht-class as it was originally designed, with some improved AA and radars thrown in. You'll have to wait a couple of weeks for that one, though.
See you soon!

And don't worry, there's plenty still to come. I keep a couple of ships in my back pocket so I'm always at least a build or two ahead of what I post publicly. There's some good stuff coming, I promise!
Cheers!
