Lore:
Before there were seasons, the Goddess of the Warm Winds blew a single seed, whose true name was Kousa, onto a northern island peak. Since Kousa had flown in the Goddess's breath, it was imbued with the power of heat and life. This single seed grew, and kept growing, until the white blossoms and the red and pink leaves touched the edge of the sky and looked into the heavens. When the Humans were gifted a single ship from the Elves and learned to sail across the waters, they came across Kousa while exploring the north and built a small shrine to honor this giant tree that they were sure was a gift from the Gods.
