Hello everyone!
I'm back from a holiday and I return with the next of my Swedish destroyer builds. This time, the Öland-class destroyer! This was actually built this time after many design studies were considered (including the previous build I made), and they eventually settled on this design. Entering service just after WWII, these early Cold War destroyers were more challenging for me to build due to their complex, built-up superstructure, but they look fantastic as a result.
The World of Warships model needed some AA correction, likely due to a misunderstanding of the upgrades given to the class after their completion. I believe the sister ship was constructed with a different AA configuration, and the lead ship was later changed to match this, but was initially armed differently.
Statistics are as follows:
Length - 112 Blocks (not including extremities)
Beam - 11 Blocks (ditto)
Draught - 3 Blocks
Primary Armament: 4 x 120mm/50 Bofors Model 1942 DP Guns [2 x 2]
Anti-Aircraft Armament: Ditto + 7 x 40mm/60 Bofors Model 1936 Guns [3 x 2, 1 x 1], 8 x 20mm/60 Bofors Model 1940 Guns [8 x 1]
Torpedo Armament: 6 x 533mm Torpedoes [2 x 3]
I hope you like this one, as always, stay tuned for the next builds, which will include the rest of the Swedish destroyers before commencing on some new projects!
All the best,
MCMG
