This is a large wooden Minecraft house designed to be used as a simple starter base for survival and includes interior design.
This was originally a tutorial house on my YouTube, but I've now converted it into a map download.
The front side of the house includes a small pond and a basic farm, along with pathways.
The interior on the first floor includes a sitting room, brewing room, a kitchen and dining room, an aquarium, and an enchanting table.
Second floors has a workshop room for crafting and smelting, and a bedroom.
The top floor is the storage room.

This is a very pleasant looking build ( well lit and with a reasonable perimeter), but I question calling it a 'starter house'…
To my eye, this looks like a display build one would make after establishing at least some of the basic farms/infrastructure.
[This may be a difference of nomenclature or playstyle (possibly a combination of the two.)]
As you mentioned it depends on playstyle. Generally I try to find a balance between making houses that are usable and decorated, but are loosely optimized for the player to be creative and make any changes they want as needed.
But you're right, it leans more towards a display build style.
