I'm sorry, but no, you can't survive. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you use trees to get wood for houses and tools. Your house will simply burn to the ground. The only other option is using dirt to build, but that would destroy the only hard land you have..So it's a loose-loos situation my friend.

Actually, it's impossible..Unless there is a load of cobblestone or something in that chest, you literally cannot.
