Hey Planet Minecraft.
My first submission in a while, mainly because I really like the work I've done here.
Inspiration:
First started when Diablo 3 came out. Thinking to myself, Oh I wanna make the high heavens in minecraft! So I started with a few designs and made some changes, a lot of changes and once I saw my ideas had grow so far off my original inspiration I just went nuts!
After the towers took form and the whole complex resembled much more than just a few towers, I decided to dedicate the entire complex to my clan and my friends. Each tower represents a section of our lives as clan mates. The Largest tower is the archives, where a detailed clan history will be housed and the second largest tower will be the dorm for the clan's council of 5.
So far my fav feature of the monastery is the lobby to the council meeting chamber. Its locked with a piston door which can only be opened if there are 5 people all standing on pressure plates just outside the doors. I have one of my clan mates to thank for the design.
Building:
I can honestly say that 98% of the entire monastery was all done by had over the space of a few months. I used VoxelSniper to create the levels on the archives, but the rest of it was by hand. I'm not a huge fan of the circle shapes that voxel uses with such a small radius so I just made the templates myself!
Each Tower is connected to another, some connected by long walk ways and some, require a bit of creative vine climbing to get to. Each tower's base it lined with red-stone lamps which are all controlled by one switch in one of the central towers. Connecting every single red-stone lamp together over such a large distance both horizontally, and vertically was difficult, but possibly the most fun I've had making this.
Texture Pack:
Misa's Realistic Texture Pack

Only one that I could find that made Sandstone look decent!
-----------------------------------------
Anyway, the best way to describe it is with the pics ;)
Sorry to say but due to the sensitive nature of the information in the archives and other towers, this map, nor server will ever be open to the public. Sorry :P
