I know, there are already many Light Houses but I just started with Minecraft after some years and wanted to do something not too complicated. I created this Light House just for fun but when I finished it I thought it was too much work for a project that will never be seen by anyone but me so I thought I should upload it here. :D And I didn't find a light house with rotating light that automatically turns on at night.

The Light House itself is just a basic structure of tainted clay, nether bricks and polished andesite. In it there is a spiral staircase and 7 floors, each one with one room for the light house keeper like bedroom, workshop etc. Most of the lighting is done with a lavafall and some small windows.

Most time was consumed by the rotating light. I tried many concepts with pistons and torches, they worked but they where just to big. Finally I played with a minecart that drives on a circular track and triggers detector rails which then power the redstone lamps. It woked and fitted perfectly in my light house. There is a daylight sensor that triggers a T-intersection which turns off the light at around 23500 and on at around 13000 (at clear weather). At last there is a beacon with a yellow glas to create a green beam at the top.

Obviously all these are things are not my inventions. I just looked around for mechanisms that could do what I need and tweaked them a bit to fit my needs. Most work was done in Minecraft in the creative mode. I just used MCEdit to replace some blocks with other ones that looked better, lift the top a bit to get a larger tower, move the light house and reshape the isle. Installed resources pack is the chroma hills pack with no shaders. No other mods are active.

Feel free to tell me your honest thoughts about this, especially if you have any tips to do things better. Oh, and any tips about a recording software (optimally free) would be appreciated so I can show the rotating light and the daylight detection in action.
