Based on Vincent Callebaut's "Lilypad: A Floating Ecopolis for Climate Refugees
The Floating City is designed to be an entirely self sufficient city with gardens, leisure facilities, farms, forests, harbours, shops, restaurants and housing.
The vessel itself is a diameter of 301 blocks by 150 to 200 blocks high. As this project is being done so far without any mods other than optifine, it will take a very long time.
Currently, the outline of the main vessel has been marked out and the northern harbour has been built.
The next step is to furnish the northern harbour, work out the proportions ( The circle is split into three with the harbours along the split points), build all the lowermost walls to the ground level and plan out the marine research centre at the lowest point of the city

DISCLAIMER: I do not own the rights to the design. I give full credit to Vincent Callebaut who is a very talented architect and would recommend his works to anyone interested in future eco buildi

4 Update Logs
Update #4 : by athollian 08/17/2013 6:28:31 pmAug 17th, 2013
So its been a long time since I updated this...
The reason I have taken so long is a combination of university work and a decision I had to make about this build.
And I have come to a conclusion.
Its not big enough.
That is why I have been working on getting the build up to the same level of completion that it once was, except it is now 4 times wider. Needless to say, this will take me a long time but I should finally be able to work more frequently on it. I am considering running it on a server but I will need to wait until I have a new computer so my old one can host it.
One advantage of the larger build is I will be able to create a second version with something I have had on my mind for a while. The second map will be a modded version of the map, heavily leaning towards functionality. In other words, lights that require energy that require engines. It will mean I can fill up the large empty spaces within the engine rooms.
A final idea is that I might incorporate a story built into the map which will allow for a more driven build and a much more interesting environment. I was thinking Bioshock infinite style where no one knows where the city is and you have stumbled across it where you get caught up within internal struggles and end up having to fight to escape
I will update again when there is truly something new about the build.
