About:

You're stranded on the Moon, but don't worry -- you're not the first one there! Explore the ancient ruins left behind by a previous expedition, and you may find items which will help you build a new base and eventually get back to Earth. There are ores to mine, crops to harvest, and strange new flora and fauna to encounter on a square of floating terrain comprising over 1 million blocks.

This is a very early pre-release of the map and associated resource and behavior packs, so expect many more mobs, items and recipes when it's complete! The landscaping is also still under development (those flat empty areas aren't there to stay!), and I have plans for the large shaded area underneath the moon structure as well...

IMPORTANT:

This map uses experimental features and the beta version of the minecraft/server API.

You'll also need to install the linked resource and behavior packs first, as they contain all the custom blocks, items and entities used in this map.

For best results, set the Render Distance to 12 Chunks under Settings --> Video. (With the default render distance, you would be able to see all the way to the edges of the floating island, which makes the moon terrain look smaller than it is. Decreasing it allows you to explore section by section)

What's In This Preview:

2 types of soil -- Regolith and Enriched Regolith
2 types of stone -- Topslate and Aggregate, which can be used to craft other decorative and functional varieties
4 ore varieties -- Meteoric, Sidereal, Phantasmal and Resplendent
4 tool materials
2 custom crafting tables -- the Extracter and the Disintegrator

(Ores are distributed randomly throughout the stone layers of the custom floating terrain. The terrain has a depth of 16 blocks from ground level to its bedrock base layer -- not including the height of the regolith dunes.)

1 neutral, tameable/rideable mob: The Catamount (retextured as a lunar leopard!)
1 passive mob: The Moonshroom
2 hostile mobs: The Centipede, which spawns underground on the new dirt/natural stone-type blocks; and the Minotaur, which spawns on processed stone-type blocks

3 new lanterns, with different colors and light levels

Iridescent Meal -- crafted from bonemeal; can be used to grow or spread the following:
Shimmerstem Trees, which can be used to craft a new type of planks
Suncap Mushrooms: emit light level of 15; can also be obtained by shearing Moonshrooms

Pineapple crops (retextured from one of my previous packs)
Phantasmal Tendrils: a groundcover crop that drops sticks for crafting, and edible greens which can be used to make:
Subtle Salad (Restores nutrition and saturation points)

Potion of Anchoring: Sets player's spawn point to the position at which the potion was consumed (only functional in the Overworld)

All new materials are renewable!
