As part of the mayan theme world I'm building, I'm scattering little pyramid temples across the jungle. You can easily modify the roof, stairs, content. You can also lower the floor at the top so you've got a pit to sacrifice stuff into. It's a basic structure but it's a very usable in a theme setting.
