the McDonnell Douglas DC-8 was a jet airliner that has a similar resemblance to the Boeing 707. the aircraft became popular amongst large airlines such as Pan American Airlines, Air Canada, KLM and Alitalia. it was also a great competitor against the 707. the aircraft was also used by Orbis ( a non profit organisation that focuses on eliminating preventable blindness. they are also known as "the flying eye hospital" ) and NASA ( North American Space Agency (i think you already know who they are =D) . the aircraft commenced operations with United airlines and Delta Airlines in late 1959 and was introduced to PAN AM in the late 1960s. it finally retired in January 2013 when UPS made the decision to retire their remaining fleet. for more info about this aircraft check out the wiki page here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_DC-8
