One of the biggest problems in Minecraft today is, in my opinion, finding a good server. It seems as though there are thousands of failed or failing servers with the true gems being few and far between. Who can honestly say they've never had trouble finding a server worth devoting their time to?

I believe that the primary reason for the failure of most servers is (just like in business) mismanagement. The bulk of today's servers are started by those with little to no knowledge of both the skills and time it takes to effectively run a server (i.e. plugin management, economy balancing, staff interviewing, etc.). It is because of this that I have decided to start a website and server that will be devoted to teaching these lessons.

Short Term Goals
  • Setup and manage a server that runs training in some of the essential plugins that servers should use. This will include plugins such as WorldEdit, Worldgaurd, GroupManager, Essentials, Vault, etc.
  • Gather a team of knowledgeable and helpful instructors.
  • Complete website.

Long Term Goals
  • Provide "server specific training" which will be training based on the particular needs of a server including staff recruiting and management, website development, plugin/command usage, and more.
  • Provide a "Server jump-start" program which will be comprised of teams or individuals who will work directly with a potential server owner who needs help getting started.
  • In-depth training into all aspects of minecraft (very long term would include plugin development)

While no could make any considerable amounts of money doing this, the thought still lingers in my mind of having packages or private instructor time that could be donated for in order to keep things running.

If you might be interested in assisting with this project please feel free to leave a detailed resume of your minecrafting abilities in either the comments section or in a message to me.

*The website is still in the very early stages but it is at mcvirgam.com if you would like to see it.
