The Mi-30 is a Soviet project of a multi–purpose tiltrotor aircraft, the development of which began in 1972 at the M.L.Mil MVZ, the project manager was M. N. Tishchenko. The main task in creating the Mi-30 was to provide parameters such as range and flight speed that would exceed the performance of helicopters of a similar class. The Mi-30 tiltrotor was considered by the creators as a promising replacement for the Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter. In the initial design, the Mi-30 was designed to carry 2 tons of cargo and 19 passengers, but later the vehicle's carrying capacity was increased to 3-5 tons, and the passenger capacity was increased to 32 people.
