A Video I Made displaying some info about ways to use Hoppers!
UPDATE - MINECRAFT 1.5
As you may know Minecraft 1.5 was recently released. I would just like to say that all ideas in the video are fullycompatiblewith the Full release of Minecraft 1.5. There are also many other videos on youtube which lead you to more complex contraptions using these fundamental ideas.
SECOND UPDATE (09/2013)
The hopper has arisen many new sorting mechanics, redstone devices like T-Flip-Flops and other. I will not be posting an updated video as there are already hundreds of the features out there.

The Hopper can also now be powered and unpowered to prevent it from transferring items.
The snapshot 13w02a has brung many new features to the Hopper. All of the features in the video are still functional.
