Villages are simple folk. They spend their day wandering around their village, "talking", farming (by destroying the crop you were just about to grab), and (presumably) creating their seemingly limitless stock of items (that always runs out). At night they crowd into houses and hope the door doesn't get torn down by a zombie. Plus, they only know five words (although who can say what HMM really means?). So it's safe to assume they don't know very much about the world around them, and they almost certainly don't know anything about the larger world outside that.

They are, on the other hand, around us a lot. While most of what we say would be useless (who cares about your house when there's twenty right here?) or completely incomprehensible (what's a computer?), they might have heard us talk about other things that might interest them more. Like the people who created minecraft. And if they know who created them, what would they do other than worship them?

That's the idea behind my first serious build. Iron golems stand guard out front (there's no door), and the second floor stores trading items. I made this completely by hand.
