I started building this map on 2nd of August 2018. It was built in a rather weird scale - 70 meters irl = 17 blocks in minecraft.
The map can be used on whatever purpose you would like, including:
- Creative (additional builds, etc.)
- Survival (single- or multiplayer)
- Role-play*
- Showcases
- Modded natural disaster survival (tsunamis can be quite a nuisance on a flat island surrounded by ocean on all sides)
- whatever else comes to your mind*
* ...within common sense
I've got most of the midtown highrises done and recently I started building lower manhattan. I plan to finish the entire island at some point but since I'm the only person working on this project it might take a while.
I gave myself more freedom when it comes to how street grid in the "New Amsterdam" looks like. I didn't want too many curves, so small buildings wouldn't have ridiculous shapes... which kind of backfired at the southern tip but I guess I will just make some smaller buildings slightly wider and include more plazas in order to fill the gaps from more rectangular streets.
As some of you might notice, I included a lot of no longer existing buildings such as:
- Old World Trade Center (except 7,5,4 WTC which were replaced with new, taller 7 WTC and older than WTC buildings of the Hudson Terminal)
-Hudson Terminal (^^^)
-Singer Building and City Investing Building - both replaced by One Liberty Plaza irl (I have a schem file for One Liberty Plaza so anyone that want the version with it can just message me)
-270 Park Avenue - a really cool looking, international style building which got demolished in 2020 and will be replaced by a larger building
-Trinity Court Building - built in 1927, was replaced in 2020 by Trinity Commons
I have some larger plans related to this map but I they all are still in phase of coming up with ideas to how to make the gameplay on this map interesting. I won't reveal anything right now but once the map is finished I will do something proper with it.
The map is called "Nju Jork" if you get confused (it's *polish transliteration of 'new york')
