Mob effects
Download test world and try it.
Download schematic and import the module in to the world of your choice with MCEdit. (you may need to enter and restart the redstone clock by right-clicking the comparator next to the redstone block.

What is Mob effects?
It gives mobs additional defences when you get too close.
Spiders - give you weakness and less ability to defend yourself.
Sleletons - give you slowness - like a paralysis.
Zombies - give you Nausea and disorientation.
Creepers - give you blindness.
WARNING
Stay away from the chickens and pigs.
You only get ONE warning.
Effects can be modified.
