Seems like a good start, if you want any pointers, tricks or ideas you can always take a few from me. I'm working on a similar project that is nearly on it's end stages of completion so imagine it as something your project can become after some time of serious dedication. One thing I would say to start is avoid using any terrain or texture materials until you have the world in the shape you want and also try to set the ocean level as well as the base ground level you are working at down a few levels. It helps give you more mountain/sky space to build on for more detailed natural structures.
