You have lived and worked as a ranch hand for Kybalt Ranch for the last ten years.  In that time, you've grown up, and you've seen the ranch prosper.  But despite the ranch's prosperity something dark is afoot in the land, and already Kybalt Ranch has felt its effects.  The caravan meant to bring in this year's winter feed for the animals is months late, and as the dry summer turns everyone feels the pressure on as the missing caravan spells doom to the ranch.




John Kybalt, the current head of Kybalt Ranch, turns to you for aid.  You are of age, and old enough to take on higher responsibilities.  With everyone else's hands full prepping for winter and caring for the animals, you are the only one that they can turn to.  You must head north to Old Castle Town and find the whereabouts of the caravan and, perhaps, seek assistance from the townsfolk.




Little do you, or anyone else, know of the darkness that is to come, and that you carry more than the ranch's fate upon your shoulders.

Right, I am at it again; doing an adventure map.  This time, however, rather than just announcing an adventure and letting it sit, I am actually posting a work-in-progress alpha.  The alpha isn't much; the starting area and the beginnings of a main quest; but it is supposed to show what I'm looking for in this adventure map.  If there's enough response for this map I will continue updating it, though I intend to update it with as much as I can in the meantime.

This map is built similar to a Legend of Zelda map, with some RPG elements.  You are an ambiguous hero; indeed, NPCs refer to you by name.  You have been working for a ranch, and something goes wrong.  And now you are on a quest to save that ranch...but indeed, perhaps more than the ranch requires saving, perhaps even the world!  As a conspiracy goes on behind your back, you go on an epic adventure seeking the pieces of a puzzle that may eventually lead to the ultimate treasure; a treasure worthy of kings.

As said in the title, this is a modded adventure map.  No, this adventure map does NOT have its own modpack.  This requires for you to manually install each of the mods via the downloads provided.  Thankfully that doesn't take too long, and by far it is the biggest hurdle.  The map file comes with a readme that has the full list of mods and the versions you need to install in order for it to work, but to give you an idea here's a preview of what you can expect:

Before I continue I will say this; this adventure map comes with minecraft skins that I have acquired from this website.  I intend to send permissions as soon as I can, but I wanted to get the alpha posted right away while I still had everything set up.  If you happen to own a skin and see it here, and if you'd like me to remove it, send me a PM and i'll do it right away.  Otherwise I'll be sending permissions out over the course of the next month as I acquire more skins.  There will be a complete list of credits in a separate readme file upon the map's completion.

I also recommend using Dokucraft for this map, as I feel Sphax is overused and has gotten old, and I like the RPGesque vibe that Dokucraft gives.  Dokucraft includes a couple of mod support textures as well, including one for CustomNPCs, so be sure to give it a look.

Be sure to enjoy this alpha version, I will have the next version finished and released this September with the best suggestions and ideas in mind.
