Here is my modular Redstone moat for Minecraft 1.19.
Feel free to use this design in your own builds.
If extending the signal, make sure to use the zero-tick repeater shown in the 5-wide example so all the parts open at the same time with no delay.
In my experience, it only causes lag on the player's side and not the server side.
