Moria The Black Chasm

History

Khâzad-Dum, the Dwarvian Delving, the Black Chasm, Moria, all those names are given to this gigantic underground complex and mine, going all the way through the Misty Mountains. It was funded by Durin, and inhabited by the Longbeard dwarves for thousands of years, due to the abundance of mithril.

Our work

We tried to recreate the movie-accurate version of the mine. It is playable as part of a Siege / capture-the-flag gameplay on our server.

Features

The map displays the following parts :

• Gigantic mountains created by hand
  
• Balin's tomb
  
• One of the countless halls of Moria
  
• The Bridge of Khâzad-Dûm
  
• The Mithril Mine
  
• The Trivia (I have no memory of this place - Gandalf)
  
• Kheled-Zâram lake
  

The mine goes all the way through the mountains and there are passages from some parts of the map to others hidden in the walls.
Terrain was a flatgrass and was generated using WorldEdit and VoxelSniper. No worldpainter used.
