nauvoo temple(OLD)

The Nauvoo Temple was a temple built and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
It was the second Mormon temple, built in the 1840s. When church members were forced to leave Illinois in 1846,
the Church tried to sell the property, and only succeeded in 1848. The building was damaged by fire and a hurricane
before being demolished.

In 1937, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reacquired the lot on which the original temple was built.
The Church rebuilt the temple, with few modifications. The temple has modern works mixed with the old works from
the previous temple. On June 27, 2002, this new temple was consecrated as the Nauvoo Temple
