Happy Easter!
Title: Capela de Planaltina / Chapel of Planaltina
Architect: Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012)
Since it's Easter, I decided to build this little chapel to commemorate. Coincidentally, this project was supposed to have been inaugurated in the Holy Week of 2014. Yet to this day it has not been built...
The Capela de Planaltina is an unrealized project by late Brazilian modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer. Niemeyer became a renowned architect throughout the 20th and 21st centuries for his distinctively brazilian modernist style. The region of Planaltina is one of the adminsistrative regions within the Federal District and neighbor to the Federal Capital (whose principal governmental buildings were also designed by Niemeyer). The chapel was to be located at the tallest hill in the region and was planned to be inaugurated by the Holy Week of 2014. However, as of Easter of 2021, the chapel remains nothing but a drawing on a blueprint or a CG model (and now a Minecraft map!). It's modernist niemeyeresque style is clearly demonstrated by it's curved walls and pentagon shape.
Although there were several drawings and models depicting the exterior, there was no information on the interior, therefore it is exclusively my design.
